Press Release: The First Transatlantic Feminist Podcast Makes Its Debut!
Berlin – On Saturday, March 29, Stories from the Beauty Parlor launched its project and the first transatlantic feminist podcast at Studio 14 Haarschneiderei in Berlin. Stories from the Beauty Parlor, now available on Spotify, tells a bigger story about what it means to be a woman* in today's world through the prism of global beauty salons.
Through these poignant stories listeners gain insight into diverse cultures and customs, female and queer identity, meanwhile exploring the big local and global political issues of our time. As an intimate space that is both private and communal, the beauty parlor provides a window into deeper socio-political topics, blending feel-good content with rich, insightful storytelling.

Award-winning founder Annamaria Olsson on the launch of her next NGO said, “I am excited to share the next project that will amplify diverse stories from women, at a political moment when women worldwide are under attack by the right wing governments. Learning from women and queer people in places like Istanbul, Georgia, Kosovo and Morocco for our first podcast episodes has taught us everything about what it means to show up and create beauty in an increasingly ugly and authoritarian world.”
On the global reach and fundraising aspects of the project, Development Director and internationally recognized immigration activist, Pamela Chomba, said, “I am excited to launch our global project, from Berlin to Washington, DC and beyond, we can transform self-care to community care. Our goal is to bridge the gap between traditional beauty media and the activist sphere, to raise awareness of the issues explored in each episode, and ultimately increase funding revenues to women’s* causes from the shameful 2% it currently receives worldwide.”
In practice of their values to support women’s causes, Saturday’s launch event gathered proceeds for Women Now for Development, a grassroots women-led organization doing incredible work on the ground in Syria, and Georgia Women’s Fund, supporting women’s rights programs.
The event included beauty artists that provided free makeup, nails, and henna to our guests.

About Stories from the Beauty Parlor – Founded in August 2024, Stories from the Beauty Parlor is a multidisciplinary storytelling and fundraising platform mobilizing support for feminist causes. Our plan is to leverage the $650B beauty industry to invest back into the communities that fund them – women* and queer folks. Currently, only 1 to 2% of global philanthropic funds go towards these groups. As anti-feminist rhetoric increases worldwide, we resist through joy, beauty, and collective action in support of grassroots making crucial work on the ground.
